Arrived Horta marina about 3 in the morning on monday and got 5 hours sleep (after a wee dram) before clearing customs.

The last couple of days were largely motored, or motor-sailed over flat calm seas, with plenty of sundowner G+T's for Jez while I stuck it to the Bermudian Dark 'n Stormys. Dolphins a regular feature but gutted not to have seen a whale, which the Azores are famous for!

We sighted the 2500m peak of the fittingly-named Pico from over 60 miles out, wreathed in a halo of cloud. A few hours later and Faial (the island Horta is on) came into view below and in front of the giant volcano.

We've found the world famous 'Cafe Sport', complete with hundreds of yachts' ensigns and burgees and an 'english breakfast', and are just about to go diving, so underwater photos courtesy of Jez to follow. Plenty of photos of the trip also to follow..
