making my approach into the English Channel,
squeezed as far as possible right in between the shipping lanes at the north and
south corners. and there's certainly more shipping about! i've been seeing two
or three a day in daylight hours, then for some reason the last two evenings
have crowded me with fishing boats and tankers - they all come out at night to
test my recognition of various light signals...
I'll make landfall sometime between saturday
afternoon and sunday morning - hopefully not at night, but if that looks like
the case will probably anchor off the beach until dawn.
The dreaded gales have not materialised at all,
really, just exaggeration from the met office i think, but everything's still
being flung about all over the place as we speed down some sizeable waves with
two reefs in and a force 5 behind - a good speedy finish even if i'm not getting
much rest or sleep.
