We are motoring due north as the wind has died to almost nothing. The wind gets lighter as one heads into the summer arctic high I am told. You will see that we are now at the same latitude as the southern tip of Greenland but several hundred miles west. The south west coast of the island gets lots of bergs and so the plan is to keep heading north until we are further up the coast before heading into land. The days are very long now and last night it didn't really get dark at all. The northern horizon was still light in the distance. If we get to 66 degrees north we will have the sun above the horizon 24 hours a day until the third week in July. Its very pleasant not to have a night watch as such! Whales have visited and Nancy saw a seal today. There is plenty to do with books, diaries and cooking and chat....plus sleep! I am on watch so better check there is nothing around....
