The weather improved in New Caledonia and we had 10 days in Iles de Pins diving and snorkelling. We managed to get to some of the more isolated SW lagoon ilets. Beautiful white sand, crystal clear water, Osprey and baby sharks. We sailed across to Bundaberg, Qld in early October and had a gentle, quiet sail slow but restful. I'm happy to report we had no trouble with Australian Customs but the $330 fee for Quartantine is excessive for one hours work.
We went north to visit old friends/former partner now living in Yeppoon. What a great week with big bed, showers every day and a car to wander around. Heading south we visited Lady Musgrave Reef and had 3 days of flat calm, hot and sunny. Lovely diving/snorkelling and met up with Peter Off Torkina II, we'd last seen in Tasmania in 2002. After being eaten alive in the Great Sandy Strait we are now in Newport Marina for the next 3 months. We will use this as a base for travelling around until we head back to Bundaberg to haul the boat prior to returning to the UK in late March.
