For security reasons it was sensible to leave Trinidad with other boats (too many grizzly incidents have happened lately. It is reported to be Venezuelans but we can’t be so sure! Trinidad has its share of bandits)

We left with 3 boats at 3 am on 27th November. We kept a low profile and no navigating lights. We had fair winds but quite rough seas. Armed with a patch behind the ear, I did not feel too unwell. The Captain felt nauseous early morning but improved as the day went on. As for Scorch she behave admirably, if a little slow. When we hauled out in July she weighed 15 tonnes but of course that was before the new sewing machine and the wine!

Talking of sewing machine whilst waiting for the work to be done, all the canvass work was replaced, made cockpit new cushions etc. Chris feared that if he stood too long I would make a cover for him….. It was a good therapy for me, as I was getting so frustrated with the workmen.

The trip was without incident and we moored in Prickly Bay, Grenada, at 20.00hr last night after 100 nautical miles.
