By recommendation of our B & B owner, Mr Fix it in Peru Travel, we had lunch in a magnificent private house, once owned by a deceased Matador. The lunch was delicious and all for the grand price of £12.50 for both including drinks. The tour of the house was thrown in free. The Matador’s outfits were mind-boggling and equally all the artefacts from all over the world not forgetting the head and neck of a stuffed Toro hanging on the wall.

The next treat was a visit to Rafael LARCO Museum but first we had to negotiate with a taxi. After agreeing a price of £2.20 for a 30 minutes’ drive, we climbed into a small yellow car which we can only describe has stitched together with tin cans and dubious welds. Speedy Gonzales got us there in one piece. San Isidro is a quiet area with old mansions including fine colonial and Republican buildings beginning to fall apart due to lack of care and funds. We were beginning to doubt as to whether we were going to find there the most magic, stylish and most unusual museum in Lima, containing hundreds of thousands excellently preserved ceramics as described in the guide books.

Oh Boy! We were not to be disappointed.

The House and gardens were so beautiful

The exhibits were fantastic

There was an extraordinary collection of erotic art. (pictures censored! No for children’s eyes)

The ride back by local bus was equally as exciting as the taxi ride but at a fare of 20p each.

We have just heard that we need to stay 2 more days in Lima for Mr. Fix it to organise an exciting tailor-made tour for us.
