We were very sorry to leave Bonaire, particularly as the day we left the
weather was so calm and the sea so very still that we could count every grain of
sand and see all kind of fishes underneath the boat, but we had to be in Curacao
for Christmas, our Dutch friends were flying in on Xmas Eve from Holland and the
cupboard was bare so to speak, so we had to stock up for the
festivities.
We motored all the 35 miles and used up our cheap
Trinidadian fuel.
The houses are so very Dutch, apart from the bright colours; a legacy
from a past Governor, who suffering from headaches due the glare from the whites
houses. He decreed that all buildings had to be brightly coloured. It suits the
Caribbean beautifully.
The ABC’s are so very civilized and we can buy almost anything. Chris and
I were like children let loose. We run up and down the supermarket isles with
great delight, filling the basket with glee. So many cheeses to choose from…
Pates various as well!.. Never mind the European prices plus…….
Because of the heat and sun we could not feel very Xmassy but we had to
mark the occasion and I decorated as best as I could

Homemade Xmas Tree smoke
salmon, scrambled
eggs
and
Champagne breakfast is
tradition..........
Bathers and sunglasses is not really Xmas!
But we managed to have a fun time with our Dutch and
Swiss friends and by 10 p.m we had the same over indulged feeling always
associated with the festivities.
