We had an excellent trip to Blanquilla in company with our friends from the Rally on Kopernik (30hrs). The Venezuelan Navy (two teenagers with no English) boarded us as soon as we dropped anchor. Had to fill the endless forms but they were very pleasant about it especially after 2 cold beers each and some cigarettes, the language obstacle disappeared. There is nothing on the Island apart from wild donkeys and a Navy post. They are delighted when boats arrive, it give them a purpose. They do a 30 day duty roster.

We have been swimming in clear water and the snorkelling is excellent. Walking was a challenge due very prickly cacti.

Hard to negotiate                              pretty but very prickly

Stunning beaches

We thought Scorch had landed!    American’s bay. He flew his plane in and                                                         built a getaway from it all.

“Sea Cloud”A Maltese registered square rigger moored beside us.
