It is difficult to believe it is now mid January.
Time is flying and we are still having an amazing time.
We Plan to leave Union island today as the weather is improving,and we plan to head North Back to St Lucia,having already been down to Grenada.
We have had a very quiet X-mass, both Ray and I have felt waves of nostalgia,
missing our family and dear friends, but we have been coping well. We spent
3 days in Union Island, (over the Christmas holidays) Clifton, where we befriended the local expat
community and spent X-mas day with them. On Boxing day a very nice couple,
Stephen a Brit who's married to Nancy from Connecticut came sailing with us
having freshly cooked lobster and pizzas for lunch. Totally chilled out
times.
Ray and I sailed down to Grenada on the 27th, December our favourite place so
far. The most beautiful and charming people carrying themselves with such
dignity and pride. And very hospitable. Again met a local guy Patric, and
him and his wife Marcia showed us all around the Island
and we sampled a lot of local foods, including one Friday evening where in a fishing village called Gouyave,they have a street devoted to home cooked fish of all sorts, very tasty and great atmosphere.On New years eve we had a fantastic lunch at a water side restaurant with Patrick and Marcia, on returning from a late lunch we returned to the boat, Ray fell asleep, woke up totally dopy around 22 hrs and we decided just to take it easy. Enjoyed 2 videos and cheese and wine.
We are VERY WELL stocked up. And that was our New Years Eve. Nice and quiet
just the two of us. Felt so fresh and relaxed waking up to the new year, a
nice change to previous New Years Days.
After seeing Ray's hair being brutally cut of by the local barber and
realising they don't use scissors in these parts of the world, Ray and I
finally found a small shop selling scissors.... no way I could have them to
get near my head so I had to do it myself with Ray trimming the back for me.
We are very pleased with end result, realising great moneysaving potential.
Ray says his hair does not look that bad,and is certainly an improvement,as It was getting a bit shaggy dog! it's just that he is used to it being only cut by scissors and this was all by razor, any way all in all a great
experience,and it cost only £2.
We plan to fly to Barbados for the day on the 23rd January from St Lucia to sort out our Visas for the USA as we need different Visas to the ones issued when flying in, after which we then plan to sail onto Martinique, and slowly but surely head North.
