As the forecasts progressively increased the predicted wind strengths through 5 to 6 and even 7, we opted to settle ourselves into the marina for a couple of days to await an improvement. We really like Cascais, and could happily spend longer here. It offers a good secure marina, and a lively and attractive town with all the facilities, and a tempting array of restaurants.

On Saturday, we walked along the coastal road to Cabo Raso lighthouse, some 4 miles to the west, although at times we wished that we had taken one of the free bicycles for the trip. Looking at the sea state between Cabo Raso and Cabo da Roca, we were glad to be viewing it from ashore and not trying to make our way through it. Sunday was a store boat and get ready day, although the cold north wind was challenging our preparedness to return to the English Channel! It was almost a relief to hear from a friend that it was just as cold in the Algarve.
