We have now arrived in Lowestoft, and are berthed in the friendly and convenient Royal Norfolk and Suffolk Yacht Club Marina. This weekend they are holding their June Regatta in modern and traditional keelboats, which jostle around us as they await permission to leave the marina basin and transit through the confined but busy port to get to their course. The rumour is that either tonight or tomorrow, as part of the regatta celebrations, there will be an Abba tribute band playing in the clubhouse. Mama Mia!! Where did I stow those flares?

As nice as the RN&SYC is, Lowestoft is a bit of a cultural shock after the rural peace and beauty of the River Orwell. Tomorrow we plan to walk or ride as far as Oulton Broad, whilst we prepare ourselves for the long leg north.
