The plan had been to go from Trebeurden along to Paimpol for our last stop in Brittany, but a careful calculation of the tide heights showed that the entrance channel would only be feasible at dead high water, and only then with a modicum of luck. So we decided that discretion should prevail, and we made our way directly to St Helier, Jersey (at least, once the fog cleared we did!)

And it is really nice to be back in the Channel Islands after 6 years. We have been able to solve the book famine, and have been sampling the lunches at the two local yacht clubs. Today's involved cycling to St Aubin's for the RCIYC, which was splendid. The only disappointment is that we have been unable to find a replacement navigation light for the one that got broken in Concarneau, so PROGRESS is still wearing an eye-patch forward.

And we now understand what friends meant when they complained that the UK has been having a run of poor summers. maybe it will get better next week?
