The wind dropped in the early hours and the sails flapped and the boat
rolled so quality sleep was at a premium. It picked up a bit in the morning but
has been generally light for most of the day making life on board a bit rocky
and rolly.
We crossed the halfway point this morning at 0630 local time so that’s just
under 9 days . Bearing in mind out early steering problems we are quite
pleased with that and hope to complete the second half a bit quicker with the
benefit of the trade winds. We’ve deployed our secret weapon to achieve
this – our storm jib. Now if 2 sails are goose winged, then what do you
call it when you add a 3rd. answers on a postcard.
Phil decided he wanted a haircut today so Jennie demonstrated her expertise
and gave him a bit of a mohican. Well it was only temporary and ended up
as a normal number 4.
To celebrate half way, we had a party this afternoon on deck. It
started with a tropical bucket challenge which is a bit like an ice bucket
challenge but not so unpleasant.. It was all done whilst wearing our
specially purchased hi vis sunglasses..
We each had a little present from Coral (Richie’s wife) and ended up with
Champagne and home made cake. Just time afterwards for a few quiz
rounds.
Things still going well and regards to all (or anyone) who is
following our progress. |
