Puerto Calero was a lovely marina and we enjoyed a couple of days there. With a morning of light winds, we took the opporutnity to change the main sail which had also torn on our last passage. With all boat jobs done, we hired a car and went for a tour, visiting the impressive volcanic national park and discovered a great beach side cafe, specialising in fish dishes (Phil loved it).

On Wednesday afternoon, we said goodbye to Lanzarote and headed south west towards Gran Canaria. Once out of the lee of Lanzarote, the waves were HUGE and it was so cool! Big rollers coming down from the north. An exhilirating sail and once again, Ostra A handled it superbly. When off watch, it did make for an interesting nights sleep with the rolling waves... and a flying teapot!

We arrived in Las Palmas at 07:30 on Thursday and settled in to our berth. We've registered at the ARC office and have spent the afternoon getting ready for our safety inspection which is due any time. There's a nice atmosphere building with over 50 boats leaving on Sunday to do the ARC+ and many more arriving in prepararation for the ARC departure with us on the 23rd.

We've attached a couple of pics: Matt putting the battens in the new sail and our saftey equipment ready for inspection.
