We left Gibaltar at 9am onThursday without having had the opportunity to try out the new sails but they were aboard with the battens.  Lots of shipping at the entrance to Gibraltar (see pic).

So far we've had little wind but were certainly greeted with some at the start of this passage. We were regularly getting gusts of 50knots but all was well and the boat behaved magnificently.

The wind stayed high for the day and unfortunately we got a tear in the genoa which we weren't able to do much about save roll some away which of course cost us boat speed.
We dined on chicken curry.  Well done Jen. By midnight it had dropped so much that we needed to motorsail for the rest of the night. With moderated winds on friday we replaced the torn sail but the continued light winds meant lots of engine.

Saturday saw a bit of an increase in wind speed and so the pole was rigged and we ran down wind at around 8 knots for most of the time.

Things built a little more so we reefed both sails then put the main to bed for the night and ate dinner.

Overnight there was a little rain and some spectacular lightening which fortunately stayed clear of us.

First job in the morning was to re hoist the main and pole out the genoa again.

We made good time on the last day and arrived at around 0430hrs.
