After Puerto Williams we made our way to Caleta Martial, a small anchorage close to Isla Hornos (Cape Horn). On our way the wind increased to 50 kts, making anchoring extremely interesting. Within a matter of hours the wind was gusting probably 70kts and the anchor was dragging, requiring us to have an anchor watch to ensure our grip on what felt like the end of the earth.
Morning has now come and the anticipated lull has not come, leaving us with a beat into 50kts. To top it all off it is chucking it down, and the visibility is about a quarter of a mile. Leaving the protection of the anchorage, we offered ourselves to the mercy of a Cape Horn Storm, in the vain attempt of seeing the horn, but with only a few tantilising miles to go, we were beaten back by the fury of our violent planet.
Disappointed, but with a vow to return, we are now off to the Falkands, so i will email again then,
