Well, we are eventually around Brest and into the
Bay of Biscay proper - and the wnd has swung around to meet us on the nose
- AGAIN! Will we ever stop beating!
It was a cracking sail past Brest in the
middle of the night last night, with wind speeds in mid to high teens and yes -
mmore shipping traffic to content with. No fish last night fortunately,
but we did have a little incident yesterday that called for everyone on deck - 2
incidents in fact. The first of these was our first CHAFF victim.
The furling line on the headsail snapped and left us with no way
of reducing the amount of sail that we were using. This had to
be replaced immediately and two victims were choosen to go forward and sit on
the bow for over an hour sorting it out. Once this was done, and
everyone was back in to cockpit - we had our second 'all
hands' incident - SOFT PORN
HOUR!
Before we set off, purchased an audiobook, to
play thru the boats sound system, just to ensure that everyone had their daily
intact of prose. The book I bought was On Chesil Beach and this has turned
out to be a hilarious addition to the days tasks for everyone; as the subject
matter is what was originally suggested by the title or by the write up I
had!
Anyway, 10 minutes to my watch start - better shake
a leg!
