Day 16 - Storm God
Fin is the God of Storms although he doesn't know
it.Clouds seek him and rain on him in order to please their God, heavy seas
track him down and hurricanes chase him wherever he may run, not good news for
the crew on Pi Squared, as you can imagine. The sea state has picked up again
this afternoon with 595 miles to go to St Lucia we are hoping to get there
before the worst of it!
We have been on power conservation for the past
couple of days due to potential problem with the engine although we suspect that
Fin has just run out of 50p's for the meter. The problem has been resolved (over
30 degree air temperature and 27 degree water temperature aren't cooling the
engine) so the music is back and we no longer need to wander around the cabin
with our head torches on at night!
Sleeping arrangements have changed somewhat
recently, Lynn and Jonny now inhabit the playpen, Sophie and Jake are in the
port cabin, Allan and Micheal in the starboard cabin and Penny and Fin in the
executive quarters up front!
Trevor, our elusive flying fish returned last
night, he boarded Pi Squared at 5am and launched himself at the wheel only to
fall short and end up in the wheel "?". Jonny and Jake eventually retrieved his
body after 20 minutes of trying - we were very amused by Jonny's first attempt
to pick up the apparently dead fish, as he touched it, it started to flap and he
got a bit of a fright! In the end we used Simon's fishing rod. Incidentally,
that is the only fish we have been able to catch. Simon's attempt at fishing
last week was unsuccessful, could be something to do with the fact that the bait
would have been flying along at 9 knots behind the boat - would have to be a
very fast fish to able to take the bait!
The sun is out now but we are expecting a night of
squalls. Not long to go now though!
Love to all from the entire crew.
