We are making better progress now receiving the
positions of our competition has spurred us on. We have a strategy and a
few surprises in store - so keep tracking our progress! The Celtic crew
managed to reach 11.7knots of boat speed at 5am this morning (I particularly
enjoyed helming at that speed in the dark - for the record, saying that
something is better than.....is a turn of phrase and has nothing to do with not
doing it properly - offers of hints and tips from the crew were not needed at
this point, but..)
The "No Wind" watch took over at 6am and as their
name suggests, the wind quickly dropped to just about nothing, especially tough
as they had just spend the last 3 hours listening to the celtic crew screaming
along! They are stating to contemplate what it will be like after 100 days
at sea onboard - one German crew member was caught trying to radio a mayday call
to be airlifted off; the crew could hear him cry that his pillows needed
fluffing and the batteries in his electric toothbrush were running
out.
The TWAT Hat made its merry way through the crew
again - Lynn for knocking the throttle lever into the wheel well in the middle
of the night, whilst clambering from her phosphoresence watch position at the
back of the boat. the Fin for his amazing star gazing skills and finding a new
constellation in "the shape of an upside down "w"- commonly known to you and I
as "m".
Jake is now fully aware but has started to compare
our skipper to Britney Spears - we are keeping a close eye on him over the next
24 hours.....
The Celtic watch are now off for 4 hours and
heading for a nap; we expect the wind to start dropping very soon, now that the
"no wind" crew are in control.
