On a starboard tack to shelter...

Last night was nice and quiet, meaning hand steering and moonlight. This morning I woke up Johan at 06.30 and we had a nice cup of coffee in the morning sun. We saw another big tanker passing aprox 5 NM behind us. The weather forecast, as we had seen in the horizon, was not to appealing to us. It had some rain predicted for the day. An hour later the bad weather was surrounding us and the rain was pouring down. Johan actually showered in it and using dish soap to freshen up! He smells fab! The sea became rough and the wind reached up to 40 KT. Fortunately we had taken the Genoa down and had set the staysail. On a starboard tack and with a little help from the engine we were doing 7 kt and I, now called the chef, managed to heat up some nice ravioli for lunch. The batteries are charging again thanks to Richard, Stig and an old battery charging manual. The solar panels managed to charge one of the batteries enough to start the Generator. Now Mr. Hydra is taking care of the steering again! Our current position is: N 31.05.4 W 064.42.3 Maybe a little bit of but for obvious reasons! 77MN before reaching Bermuda!
