After dropping Nevile and Eileen on Friday, we sailed over to Nevis and picked up a mooring off the town. It's stil bowing hard but now more from the East, so it's much more sheltered. The beach is fantastic, so the fitness programme - kayak to the beach, walk then swim has been revived. On Saturday we tried to eat in the Four Seasons, but they couldn't fit us in till late so we settled on Sunshines and had great ribs and lobster.
Sunday was a lazy start, but with later excercise, including spotting a couple of leopard rays while swiming, and then Monday morning went through the 'clearing out of Nevis and going to St Kitts' rigmarole at customs, before sailing across the narrows and up the coast to Basseterre. There was a strong cross wnd in the marina that made life exciting for a minute or so, before safely securing to the piles and pontoon.
Liat excelled themselves again, delivering Saah and Katherine only 25 minutes late. They brought Monday's papers with them - Oh dear, what about the rugby again!
We had wished to stay in Nevis for a few days, but the moderately strong winds now will become very strong over the next week and stay that way, so the current plan is to sail to Guadaloupe tomorrow, and then on up to Antigua on Thursday. Wit this in mind , we cleared out of St Kitts and sailed back to Nevis with the aim of an early start in the morning. The girls did the Caribbean bit- some sunbathing and swimming before entertaining us to a drink ashore and then making surprise pancakes for supper back on the boat.
