Just after I had written yesterdays blog I went off my night watch and said to Coralie there have bben a number of light squalls with light rain but not much wind. I was wet and keen to get dry and get some sleep. Coralie said there is another squall coming should I reef the sail? I said don't bother. I just got dry and into bed when we were hit by a fierce gust of wind like a hammer hitting the boat., Trish was deluged with food stores from the adjacent bunk as well as chshions and was pinned to here bunk,  things flew off the surfaces onto the floor and Tim and I helped Coralie to reef Again tonight we have had a number of squalls but are better prepaired and have sensibly reduced siak

I did not realise how noisy sailing is unbtil this trip. Inga groans and squeeks in the swell and rolls, plates and cups rattle and food containers slide back and forth. We have spent ages packing cloths etc into free spaces as well as using non slip mats so have contained the problem but there is always that elusive rattle that you just can't locate, and it drives you mad
