Yesterdsy was our best distance run 146 miles in 24 hrs.in the 20 - 25 kenot ENE wind under just the jib enough wind to keep the sail filled even with the big seas. As I cam on watch Trish had had a number of showery squalls with lighter winds in between. There is a full moon, or near full and it is a delight to be sailing with such good visibility at night, though I've had to retreat to the cabin to shelter from the next shower (and a cup of tea). We are running without nav lights to reduce the drain on the batteries. The AIS is on anf the radar detector so we shoulod get warning if there are any ships close by, but since leaving Mindelo we have not seen a single ship. Makes you realize how vast and "empty: the oceans are.
Tim spent a couple of hours with the fishing rod today, so far Fish 2 Tim 0 and 2 lures gone!
WE have all been very good about wearing our life jackets and harnesses. even just being in the cockpit in the day,- the RNLI will be proud of us - we can all see how impossible it would be to get someone back with the sea state and following wind.
