Tuesday 3rd September 2013

Up early as we had to vacate the fuel berth by 8:00 am, I didn't notice any customers but we left anyway. Another hard day on the beat, wind F5/F6 from the NE, dropping to F4 E in the afternoon. The sun is fierce but the wind keeps one cool.  After 12 hours of beating we slipped in to Aguilas

(37:24.29N, 001:34.19W) and anchored in the lee at the east side of the bay, just as it went completely dark.

The Gulf of Vera is a veritable desert. Arid mountainous nothing interspersed with poly-tunnel cities. Damn you Tesco! We don't need blueberries in December. Leave these poor peasant farmers alone and let them get back to goat-herding and flamenco.
