Log S/Y ESCAPADA, today 27 OCT 2009, 10.00UTC.

Wind WNW F3-4. Sea state: slight

Large swell from the NW building up.

This is day nr.5 at sea, and after sailing about 480nm, we are just 130nm away from Lanzarote! Sailing SSW on a close reach we are now making about 5kn again, heading down to Isla Graciosa. During the last 24h our average speed went down to 3.3kn, due to much less wind. There was even a complete calm yesterday afternoon, which we didn’t hesitate to use for a quick dip in the Ocean – NICE…!

Apart from that, Andreas has been using the rather calm conditions to focus more on the culinary aspect of this passage, treating his crew to goodies such as Spicy Chicken Wrap, Mussels in Creamy Pepper Sauce and - of course - his classical Tuna Salad...!!!

Weather is a bit more gloomy today, still warm but overcast. Wind forecast is F2-4 variable. Hopefully we’ll be able to keep up the speed. If yes, our ETA stays Wed 28.Oct 18.00UTC.

Next update tomorrow!
