In the end, we decided to sail directly here from Napier rather than stop en route at Wellington or Picton. Had a lovely trip taking 68 hours which was a welcome break after our hectic social whirl in Napier.... Art Deco weekend, the Great British Car Rally, seeing England thrash the Black Caps and the finale of  Carole King and Barry Gibb playing live at the local Vinyard - all in the space of 10 days...

Now back in the Roaring Forties and don't we know it !!! Have stopped here to wait for a weather box to head South to Stewart Island (only another 320 odd miles to go) and it's a really nice little Town with a strong French influence. The locals are very friendly and we have already been to Dinner with one of the Sailing Club Members - reminds us fondly of Hardway....
