Left Carrara this morning and had to squeeze out of harbour past large cargo ship which was blocking most of the harbour while unloading.

Beautiful weather, bright sunshine with gentle wind from south-west.  A mixture of sailing and motor-sailing and the wind faded as we entered the large bay in which La Spezia is located at the top.  Passed the large breakwater, similar to Plymouth, and then found the old Porto Turistico next to the Naval base. Since it was Sunday, there was no marina or port staff to help us find a berth or take our ropes so we had to do it ourselves.  Have decided to stay two nights and explore part of the town tomorrow.
