Having spent a few days completing the winterising jobs which require the engine to be run (viz. changing oil and filters), we presented Eliza B on Monday morning for lift out.  The process was very professionally managed and after a quick power-wash of the hull Eliza B and her cradle were trundled round to a convenient winter resting place.

We then spent a couple of days completing the wintersation tasks, including splattering Elizabeth with anti-freeze from the exhaust, and attending to some gelcoat scratches on the hull.  All clothes, books and food were transferred from the boat to the car and we stowed inside everything which could possibly be blown away.  Eliza B looked quite stark without mast, cockpit sprayhood and fenders.

On Thursday we turned off everything, locked up the boat and left it to the care of the boatyard.  We then had 3 enjoyable days visiting wine areas as we drove north ignoring the threatened fuel shortages.

Our provisional plans for next year are to return to the boat in April to refit the mast and prepare her for relaunch at the beginning of May.  We then propose to explore the French and Italian coastlines and Corsica and Sardinia.  However, these plans may change if we receive better ideas.

This station will now be closing down until April 2011 when " normal service will be resumed".  We hope you have enjoyed reading about our adventures this summer and hope you will join us again next year.
