As the sun set on Saturday 2nd December, we closed the rocky southern shore of Grenada, dodging The Porpoises (rocks) and Glover Island as we headed for the turning point of the southwest tip.  Jane had Nusquama in her sights and reeled her in but shortly after we passed her we had to drop the Mexican to negotiate the shallows and that let Nusquama slip ahead again.  How strange to see the depth gauge working again after two weeks of sailing in an ocean many kilometres deep!  We left the two reefs in the mainsail so we could have an easy sail up to the finish line in the dark.  We counted down to the finish line and congratulated each other on a very successful crossing.  Fifteen and a bit days to travel about two and a half thousand miles, sailing all the way.

We motored into the marina in St. Georges and were royally welcomed by the World Cruising team (they who organise ARC+) with rum punches for all.  Our fellow Isle of Wighters on Nusquama and Northern Lights II joined us shortly afterwards, so it was a while before our heads hit the pillows.  No more pitching bunks.  No more waking up from a deep sleep to go on watch.  No more staggering around trying to get dressed.  Sleep this time was deeeeeep!
