Belated blog from 19th Nov

13:58.7N 031:58.7W What a great couple of days of sailing
we’ve had! The sea has been nice and calm.
The wind has been hanging around 15knots. We’ve been able to have the kite up all day
from sunrise to sunset. We’re making good progress, covering around 120-150miles a
day. The conditions have been clear enough to
practice our celestial navigation. After Andy and Michael’s patient explanation of how it worked,
I happened upon some beginners’ luck and achieved a sight within half a
mile of our location. We’re keeping touch with our friends on
Adastrina. There’s no better tinder for the flames of my
dad’s competitive spirit than the sight of my godfather on
the horizon! More freshly baked bread and sausages
for breakfast today. Thankfully they didn’t go flying across the galley this time around. Best
enjoyed with a cup of fresh coffee and a wide open ocean
ahead. As we push through patches of sargassum, the fishing lines are needing a lot of attention. Every 10 minutes they need to be pulled in and cleared of weed. One of these times it will be a bite though, and that sweet, freshly caught Mahi Mahi will be oh so worth the effort. Hugo |
