Position: Even I don't know anymore.
The last few days were very disappointing. We had
to go back 70 miles to Muscat to pickup fuel and some parts. Thursday morning
the boom padeye broke with the boom swinging around a bit! Nothing to worry
about! Got it fixed but I did not have any additional spares for
it and I decided to head back to Muscat for parts...you know just incase. The
agent got the stuff we needed and we were on our way midday yesterday.
Port Sultan Qaboos. We broke two mooring lines
while being there! Moored next to an awful jetty. Bobbejaan got some scratches
and Jess was very nervous...her hands was shaking by the time we left! I bought
some Pringles chips and that made Jess smile.
Still using the engine but at least we are
getting a little bit of wind every morning. It seems to get better the further
south we go. The weather forecast shows the wind will get better
tomorrow.
On the fishing front. No fish since the
dorado. However, we saw about 100 dolphins yesterday. They were all around the
boat jumping and playing. It was really beautiful!
Well, I can for certain say that it is much
harder than I thought it was going to be. Jess is camped out in the cockpit
most of the time feeling not well. Green in the face! Night sailing is extremely
hard especially in busy shipping lanes. There is not a moment you can sit back
and relax. The best for me is that I have already finish one book and is half
way through the next one. I also learned a lot about Jessa and I think we are
getting closer to each other. She is definitely a strong character to do this
with me. I can only admire her for that. Not only is she scared of water
but she cannot swim properly as well. It take a lot of courage to sail across an
ocean given such circumstances.
Knowing what I know now. Would I do it again?
