Dear All
With only 4 days to go to the start of our Atlantic
crossing preparations are going well. Jackie joined the boat on Saturday, Andrew
(brother) and Howard at some ridiculous time early Sunday morning, and Andy and
Adrian on Monday.
Jackie and Andrew are busy arranging the food which
is delivered to the boat in stages- long life, dry goods, frozen meat and fresh.
Where it is all going to go we don't know but it will have to go somewhere.
The first delivery has just arrived and we are busy packing. Weather here is
warm 25 deg with cloud around most days to keep it cooler. Wind is f 4 to f 5.
Everyone is looking eagerly for the forecast for the start on Sunday to see if
we are going to have a pleasnt first night.
Monday saw the crew dinner for our size of boat
when a good time was had by all. The following morning was a
bit slow! We have met up with the crew of Libertad again who we
sailed with down from the UK and heard some of their stories of their
unscheduled stop in Morocco.Tonight we have the Caribbean Carnival
fancy dress party and tomorrow we are arranging a pontoon 16 party. Andy's
wife Caroline joins us tomorrow and we are going out for a last supper with
Libertad on Friday night in the old district of Las Palmas. Saturday is the
farewell party and fireworks. Life is hell?
So all is going well but I would be wrong to say we
are relaxed. Tension is beginning to build as you would expect.
More on Friday when we are ready
hopefully?
