We are now approximately 48 hours in to our trip and have around  255 miles to go to our waypoint some 10 miles north of Lanzarote. The weather is gorgeous and we are now creaming along with the spinnaker up steering 210degrees magnetic and averaging between 6 and 7 knots in a northerly breeze of around 10.8 knots some 80 miles off the West African coast. The crew is well settled in to the watch routine now and all are in good spirits - we seem to have a continual stream of banter and mickey taking as ever!

John. Andrew and I were on the 4am to 8am watch this morning and experienced a beautiful daybreak - hopefully I will be uploading photos later.

Is there anyone else out there we ask? In the last 24hours we have seen only three commercial ships, including one cruise liner, and around 11pm last night we picked up the lights of what appeared to be another yacht some 3 miles west of us on a gradually converging course but we appeared to have moved ahead and by the time our watch was back on at 4am and could no longer see him.

John is currently playing with our watermaker and impressing the rest of the crew with the water quality we seem to be getting at the moment!

A few awards for the crew today:

Andrew: Personal Hygiene Award for taking his first shower afloat (ever!?)

Helen: Clean Decks Award for missing the decks while feeling a bit unwell during her night watch

Tim: Ula Greasy Spoon Award and Multi-tasking Award for making himself a full fry up English breakfast this morning while skippering the watch and hoisting the spinnaker

John: Water Maker Award for keeping us all in water following Andrew's shower!!!!
