We got up fairly early today, on a Monday morning, after a Sunday with gusty and rainy conditions. Headed south once again. Made it to Pomena, on Mljet Island, and anchored in the adjacent protected bay. The weather today has changed. No longer are there humid and hot summer conditions, but rather there has been a 10 degree or so drop in temperature with low humidity. It is about 25 degrees vs the 35 degree heat we have been enduring. The air is clear, with great light and visibility.

It feels rather like the days in August in Nova Scotia, after Chester Race week, the top sailing regatta of the racing season, held in the second week of August. It always seems that the third week of August brings a change in the air, a cooling of the breezes, and the smells of an approaching Autumn. The summer's end is near. It makes us think of our next journey. We need to get to Gibraltar by the end of September. That is a long way. We will watch the wind, and in about 10 days from now, we will start to follow it across the Med, so we really don't know exactly where we will be heading and when. We might spend more time in Italy as a result, but one can never tell. Also, the excellent internet in Croatia will be at an end, so will have to load up on anything downloadable required for the next month and beyond.

On a more exciting note, our friends from Canada are visiting this week. We are madly cleaning and provisioning to make their stay a comfortable one. It will be good to see close friends and hear news of home.
