The second site was called The Elbow, an area of shallow
finger reefs, it lies at the corner where the barrier reef changes from
east-west to more north-south. We saw o coral here, another endangered species
with large flat branches that are particularly prone to storm damage – and all
the other usual suspects, pollution, climate change, tourism ..............
We set off to see what was lurking beneath the light structure with a group of Frigate birds Sunning themselves. When I discovered there were many large barracuda I chickened out and beat a hasty retreat. I don’t mind a couple of little ones following me about (shadow predators) but this was too many for me.
