The First Official Tot at sea!

Having waited for the fuel quay to clear and went alongside to re-fuel to be told that there wasnone available. We were destined not to leave Antigua! The Catamaran Club didn’t have fuel either and it was Jolly harbour or go without refilling. The forecast was for good winds and the tanks were at 2/3rds full and so we decided it was time to leave, and so finally, crew a little nervous having not sailed for 3 months, we were off.

It couldn’t have been a better day to start with clear skies and a good wind and we were making an easy 8 knots. Antigua fell behind surprisingly quickly as we skirted the southern slopes of Montserrat. During our stay in English Harbour both Aston and Atlanta had qualified as full Cadet Members of the Royal Naval Tot Club of Antigua and Barbuda. This qualified us to have an official Tot and that night we properly formed the ‘Nakesa Chapter’ with Master Aston as the Rum Bosun. We even had a calendar of Naval History to read from, the day the last US Navy ship was sunk in WW2 and then of course….. to our ships at sea, the Queen, God Bless Her!.

96 miles run by midnight, we are on our way!!!!
