David and Jacqui Taylor were flying to Alicante to join us, only we hadn’t got quite as far up the coast as we’d hoped. A good friend from years back was on holiday in Calpe where they go from Madrid every year, and where our daughter Marina has stayed. We drove to meet Nuria, her parents and husband Rubén South of Calpe for lunch at the Puerto Deportivo in Guardamar del Segura. As usual, there were lots of arroces (rice dishes) and the very dark one we had seemed OK but Nuria’s mother rather bluntly took the restaurant staff to task over the tastelessness etc. Ruben is a keen ssailor, chartering whenever he can around Spain, often on the NW coast. We carried on to Alicante airport to pick David & Jacqui, then a long drive back to Almerimar and another meal at Guzzi.
