Spent the morning shopping at Sheppards the chandlers: mooring springs, shackles and thimbles for our massive new 25mm lines (that were on the boat when we bought it), four new F3 fenders (at last!) etc. Interpreted for Pierre, a young Frenchman sailing Claudius which he had completely refitted at Lorient before a ‘test sail’ to St Malo where he got married and set off for a year’s sailing. I told him that his marriage was having a test sail…

We all went up to the top of the Rock on the cable car, a beautiful clear day with long views to Africa, Spain and the sea. The apes were all over the place, raiding people’s food bags etc but still very interesting.

Then back to England to do a bit of work.
