Currently we are heading down the Sound of Mull and for those that know
there will be no surprise that we are heading into the wind. Not quite true it’s
50 AWA, Colin is steering and we are hitting 9kts, so not a bad way to
travel.
The crossing had too much motoring. Eventually the wind came from the
direction we were heading and we had a really short bumpy sea for a few hours.
Eventually we got lifted and made landfall on the Butt of Lewis on the morning
of the 23rd. The forecast suggested we should crack on and we had a glorious
night sail, accompanied by numerous dolphins, through the Minches passing the
Kyle Rhea at first light.
Off Eigg the wind got up giving fruity conditions around Ardnamurchan. It
was all a bit like theold days for Colin and I, reef in, reef out, staysail up,
down, genoa out!
