At 0700 (Bermuda time) our position is 34:01.96N 60:14.13W We are motoring at 5.5 knots in 4.6 knots of wind. I (Alice) just rolled the jib away after motor-sailing all night as the wind died and backed to dead in front of us. We had over 7 knots for most of the night!

Good Mornimg! If you can call it that- its 2am and Im trying to waste the
last hour before i can go back to bed. its jills here.....

i must admit that today- monday was really rather similar to yesterday.
we had betweeen 1 and 3 knots all day and so obviously motored. I would
never have expected how smooth the ocean could be! And yet it still moved
with a little swell, just not a ripple in sight.

We have also been continuously sailing past Portugease man o war...
poisonous jelly fish.. and so that mid Atlantic swim is being put off by all
despite the midday heat! We have been eating well with chicken roti and
cowslaw for lunch and then pot roast meat loaf and salad. yumm

we were rather lucky today however in that we saw 3 whales!! they were not
as big as some others we have seen this year and the first was barely
visible, the second looked like a a big black buoy as it was just lolling
around with its head on the surface.the thrid however was awesome!!
he started off being some distance away off the port bow and we graduall
over took him until he swam away mid beam but he spent the time lifting his
tail into the air then slamming it down as we drew closer we could hear the
great big splash of water as he smacked it down. mostly this action is seen
as a sign that the whales is going for a deep dive and so you rarely see
them again but this guy was having a great time and so i managed to get some
great pictures of his tail coming out of the flat calm seas! even alice was
impressed with my photography!!

after the excitement we all went back to reading our books and sun bathing,
alice and i desperate not to lose how tans before heading home!!
its probably not fair to spend this whole last hour writing a long blog as
really not much happened today. Alice will add details of where we are when
she sends this i the morning but for now... we have done 222 miles and are
motor sailing with jib and main at 6.5 knots over the water, the sails are
giving us a good boost!

apologies for any typing errors but i am rather sleepy. 40 mins left until i
can go to sleep.

triple d standing by.
