We friends sailed the Atlantic once you know
Some all, some part
Under skies so vast and infinite
They overfilled your heart

We laughed and joked
and talked on many themes
and realised "when it's gone it's gone"
is true of life and beans

So if in future years we say
To carers, whether kin or strangers be
"I sailed the the Atlantic once you know"
They will reply "that's nice, more tea?"

But we will smile an inner smile
That shows not as a care worn line
For our adventure marked tracks on our soul
That are indelible for all our time.
