Arrived in Rodney Bay, St Lucia

We arrived to a cacophony of sound - hooters, sirens, clapping and cheering after passing Janie and Graham Smallridge on a Hobie Cat, who were there to greet us over the finish line. Once our ropes were tied, we received rum, mixers, a basket of fruit and spent the afternoon celebrating with champagne.

Our crossing of 20 days proved to be both speedy and challenging. Considering the fastest boat finished in 14 days, an ARC record, conditions were deemed to be fairly tough by all entrants. We improved our ability to sail downwind with a goose-winged jib; gybing grew easier as we became more accustomed to the routine and the whole crew learnt to pace themselves for night watches.

Now we have had a few days rest, shaved, showered, and partied, we are all ready for our next adventure. Richard  has rejoined his family in London, the Mcsweins and Gallaghers are touring the island and are flying back to the UK at the end of the week and the rest of us (David, Teri, Philippa and Oscar) are preparing Sawsea Lady for her next sea adventure - up to Tortola (British Virgin Islands) via a handful of Caribbean islands.

For those of you who have followed our voyage, we hope you have enjoyed our daily diary entries and thank you for taking an interest.
