Hello.....
from 28:07.743N 15:25.585W

And good to be back with SSL. Tough life here at the yacht club. Calamari, beers, pink flowers which look very much like Naked Ladies (of the floral variety), except they would be the African equivalent. Hoola Hoola. A little swimming pool. Table Tennis. Lovely. Looking forward to cocktails tonight.

Grooving with the crew. Peter, the keen Irish-Hungarian cyclist. The Skippers daughter - Phillipa - party girl. She has already steered her way clear to THE party boat in the harbour. It goes by the name of Xpresso - and is fully charged. The lads are off sky diving this very minute. They live on a diet of smokes and rum.

Back to the yacht to wash and pack away a mountain of vegetables and fruit.

This morning we scientifically stowed away the milk, water and goodies. It's all getting very exciting. A cocktail party tonight. Rock on, Tough at the top. Over and out - Oscar x.

DAY 2 26th November

We surged over the car ferry based starting line  yesterday in first position !!!
After the downwind start SSL continued to power along for the rest of the sunny, swelly day. Richard Fielding steered us safely into double figures (11 Knots) until.... rip. The spinnaker behaved like an overactive CD burner and ripped almost all the way across, and all the way up the seam. We are currently sailing goose-winged but not as speedily. Eat your heart out Vivienne Westwod there's a new seamstress in town... Skipper Moore is painstakingly threading our lovely red, blue and white Spinnaker back together again.

It was a pretty tough first night, lots of queasiness, but Philippa and Oscar managed to tempt the crew with some delicious chicken for supper. And in Radio 1 style I personally would just like to give out a massive shout to Mike Brooke for his fantastic tuiton in the galley from Les Sable d'Olonnes to Sines on the first leg. Thank you!

Slowly settling in. Top tip - Buy shares in the company who manufacture Stugeron early October.
