Day 13  Thoughts from mid Atlantic

Hello. It's your friendly bloghead Oscar here.  Peter is too busy prancing around the yacht reciting Tennyson to put fingertips to laptop so I am covering.  On a personal note I am pleased with my rod.  Although yet to land 'the big one', I did get an hoursworth of fishing in yesterday afternoon.  All was going well until David decided to shake out two reefs and then put them back in again within the space of ten minutes.  I found myself winding in two hundred yards of line as quickly as possible.  I'll put out less in future.  You start to wonder about the whole activity when the vessel dips down below the line from the reel.  Sharp tugs are just waves biting at the line.  I will persevere.

It's Ronald McDonald's birthday today so we might have a happy meal as well as a happy hour tonight.  I wished him 'happy birthday' at 3am this morning when we came on watch together.  He replied that at his age you rely on others reminding you it's your birthday.  Was totally shattered by the end of the watch at 6am. I think I managed to accidentally gybe SSL 3 times in the last 10 minutes so exhausted was I.  Anyways, the positive news is we have turned over the crease on the chart and can now 'see' the green of land.

Sometimes the voyage seems never-ending. Doing anything just takes time.  Holding on to a handle whilst making a cuppa, getting dressed or sleeping is part of everday life.  As I write the mouse has just shot off the table.  I for one can't wait to pee like a male again. Sitting down girl style (in order not to hose down the whole of the heads) is not something we were designed for, but it's necessary!  Sorry to have to go into it - but it's important you know.

Looking forward to land, but at the same time realising this is not something that happens week in week out.
