41:00.54N 8:52.40E Saturday 7th June. Fog!! We didn’t know they did fog in the Med in the middle of June. We woke up to bright sunshine but very wet decks and 80% humidity. By 9.00 am just as we were thinking of moving on, the entrance to the harbour disappeared and a huge red and white masonry tower, protecting a rocky ledge in the middle of the harbour, vanished too. Up above was blue sky and a weak sun. It will soon burn off we thought - but it was another one hour and twenty minutes before we felt brave enough to venture out. The fog was clearing from the West and we were going East.
Yet another motoring day into steadily increasing ENE winds as we crossed the 30 nm to Isola Rossa, a modern town on a rocky promontory with several wide sandy beaches. We eschewed the marina here in favour of anchoring off the town beach, despite the continuing NE 4 wind. There was one other boat at anchor when we arrived and, as soon as we had dropped our anchor, we were joined by another, but a little too close to us for our comfort.
