Having spent 4 days in Cadiz waiting for the Levanter to abate, we moved to Barbate on 31st August and then on past Tarifa today to Gibraltar. Once the mist had lifted we had spectaculat scenery and our berth in Marina Bay marina has a stunning backdrop of the Rock, even if there are a few noises from aircraft from the adjacent runway!

Gibraltar as we approached from Tarifa

The backdrop to our mooring at Marina Bay

Just as the sun was rising

Of course we went up the cable car and looked at the route onwards

As well as looking back over the old town and on our marina

The Barbary apes were there - this one even greeting us off the cable car.

Having returned to the boat for lunch and fitting the newly-purchased replacement foot switch for the winlass, we then climbed the rock by foot. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived there, the World War II tunnels were closed, so we will try again tomorrow.
