After beating our way up to the Isle of Scilly on the south west coast of the UK without much progress, we decided to motor against the wind during the night. the wind is now decreasing and we are now motor sailing towards Plymouth. This is sooo relaxed after days of upwind sailing...We can finally walk around the boat again without being thrown around (again).

As a joke, which is not funny, we estimated our beating time versus more relaxed sailing on this ocean crossing. We concluded that 70% of the time, we were runningbagainst wind and waves and any favorable conndition. That is almost non stop 3 weeks of beating. Who expected that to happen, what are the odds...was that in the borchure? During my ocean theory I was told about high pressure systems etc...never seen one untill we now reach the UK. But here it doesn't help us!!! Luckily enough I have taken this trip for the experience and an experience it is/was.

About the final miles of the trip. It is another 270 miles to the Needles. ETA in Cowes is somewhere on Friday afternoon. We will have a short stopover in Plymouth to take in diesel for the last stretch of ~150 miles to Cowes. I, Roy, will stay in Plymouth to make sure I catch a plane to stockholm on Friday. Flavio and Paul have the honours
to arrive in Cowes. We will catch up with the beer later this summer!

Tomorrow the last blog update for this trip. For now, we are going to enjoy our view from the boat as long as it lasts with the UK on the horizon today :-) Yay!
