We left Marina Bay in Gibraltar at 12.30 local time (BST +1) after waiting for permission from Port Control to clear the airport runway area.

We fitted the boat's stereo yesterday, so we've now got tunes (and some shocking dancing) to relieve the boredom as we motor East in very hot sunshine. I think it's all about to change though - our 5-6 knot tail wind has gone completely and it's starting to fill in from the north-west as promised. As the day goes on I expect we'll be sailing close-hauled (into the wind) which will be a lot cooler, and probably wetter than what we've been used to so far!

We're heading for the Spanish port of Cartagena, where Tony and Kath are planning to leave us on Sunday.
