After spending part of the night heading south east (the wrong way) away from the middle of a depression that wasn't supposed to be there, we're now back on track. We've probably lost half a day.

This boat doesn't like going upwind in this sea - we're getting swamped by every other wave and the motion is too violent to do anything but hang on. We have 3 reefs in and a storm jib, and we're overpowered in what the instruments say is 20 knots true.

Things are forecast to ease for us over the next few hours, but I don't believe anything any more. We're all tired, pissed off and just want to go home. I hate sailing.
