Rio for Christmas

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay in getting this
entry up but the last thing on our minds on arrival in Rio was
email!
We arrived in Rio on Christmas morning. It was an
awesome approach - the wind had died the previous evening and we motored the
last 60 miles along the coast to pass through the entrance of the bay
around dawn. It was amazing to see in real life those landmarks of Rio that
we had all seen so many times in pictures.
Currently we are moored alongside in the
Marina Da Gloria which is a small marina right by downtown
Rio. This is a great place from which to explore the city and because of
the recent devaluations of the local currency we can take taxis everywhere
for little cost. In fact everything is amazingly cheap here at the moment
and we are living it up!
The passage from the Canary Islands can only be
summed up as awesome. We had fantastic weather and made fantastic time. To
average 150 miles per day over the whole passage was excellent and we only
hope to have a similar passage to Cape Town!
We aim to leave here around January 3. Happy New
Year to everyone - we'll be on Copacabana Beach!
